Hello,
Just purachsed a Zipang and out it on the top of my new Phenom 9950, all settings are default, no overclocking, 1.25V - all standard. After running Prime 95 a minute or two - not more - the temperature becomes 62+C and growing, causing the system to halt. No even a thought about OCing, however I was going to do it, sure. I tried: - rotating the cooler in all dimensions, horizontal and vertical, with the same result - adjusting termointerface from a thicker layer to almost invisible one (BTW I use the standard that came in the package) - Lay the case on side to be sure it sits tight to CPU The side is opened. The cooler radiator and pipes are warm. All the actions resulted in small changes without a global effect - it still goes too hot very quickly. So the question is: is this a normal behaviour and Zipang just cannot cope with 9950 or am I doing something wrong? Thank you. My config: Phenom 9950 125W Foxconn A7DA-S Radeon 4870 1Gb Hiper 550W 4 Gb Patriot A usual mid tower case with side opened. |

I tried changing the grease and replaced the fan with a faster 120mm one.
Each of 2 actions helped a little, and now I'm able to run OCCT for 6 mins until the temp goes to 61-62 and system freezes. All on stock voltage and clock settings. Can anyone help with this please? Is it an abnormal cooler, CPU or am I doing anything wrong? Thanks. |
