Default Good cooling, but......

.......I wanted to remove my Shuriken today to allow me room to get to my motherboards GPU passive heat-sink and found the process very difficult. Because the fan hangs over the clips it is difficult to rotate them for removal (LG775). I also had to remove the PSU as the Shuriken is close and I did not have room to reach the clips on that side .

Once fitted it's best not to try to remove this HSF

Helo Count de Monet,

thanks a lot for the info - do you have suggestions how to improve the mounting mechanism?

Cheers,

It would be nice if the main body (including fan) could be unclipped from a framework that is first attached to the motherboard that does not ever have to be removed.

The problem is getting your fingers under the fan area to rotate the motherboard retention clips as usually their are components (capacitors etc) in the way.

Normally you would use a screwdriver to rotate the clips but this is not an option in this case.

Thats a good idea, but... it will not work, because you loose a lot of performance as well as it were more complicated as to remove the mainboard from your case. So thats my best advice for you, remove the mainboard, that will make the most thinks much easier.

But for the future that would be a nice idea and technic we can think about.

Kind Regards
