Default Upgrading a Big Shuriken ?

I noticed that the 25 mm high PWM Slip Stream 120mm fan on e.g. the Mugen 2 and Kabuto have a higher airflow and lower noise than the "Slim" PWM Slip Stream 120mm fan on the Big Shuriken:
  • Mugen 2: max. 1300 rpm, 74.25 CFM, 26.50 dBA
  • Big Shuriken: max. 1600 rpm, 38.05 CFM, 28.89 dBA
I'm not interested in overclocking, but I would still like my CPU to run as cool as possible with as low noise as possible, therefore my questions:
  1. Is it possible to mount a "normal" 25mm high Slip Stream fan on a Big Shuriken ?
  2. Would this indeed result in better cooling performance with lower noise as compared to the standard Big Shuriken ?
  3. Where would I be able to buy the PWM controlled "normal" Slip Stream 120mm fan ?
Thanks.

Where do you come from? Slip Stream PWM is available on the Retail market now, at least in Germany. The part number is: SY1225SL12LM-P

And yes you can mount any 25mm (without tunnels) on the Big Shuriken as the clips are designed to grab into the holes closer to the cooler - so the height of the fan doesn't matter, 38mm would also work.

And yes the 25mm fan will most likely run with lower rpm while giving you the same cooling result. It has a higher static pressure. All in all the Slip Stream PWM is a very good fan.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm from Holland, and the PWM Slip Stream fan is not available there.
But I will get one from Germany then, if the shipping costs are not too high.
