Default Scythe Kaze Maru 140mm Case Fan

Hi

I'm a bit confused and need to clear something up.
I just bought two Kaze Maru 140mm case fans. One for replacing my current 140mm case fan (Thermaltake Soprano DX) for intake (1200rpm version) and other one to replace my Thermaltake Toughtpower 750W power supply fan (1900rpm version).

Now my confusion stars here. I read your forum and there I found this:
Quote:
While the fan maybe 140 mm, it can only be used with 120 mm fan placements. In other words, if your case has a true 140 mm fan placement, these fans cannot be used, because the hole setup is only for 120 mm.
In the product info it is said:
Quote:
Of course, use this fan as a 140mm case fan is the standard feature.
Are these some kind of hybrid 140mm fans that I cannot mount in true 140mm holes? Or what's the deal?

Thank you in advance.

There are no 140mm holes on Kaze Maru! It only works with 120mm holes. The fan's diameter is equal to the one of an 140mm fan but it is only possible to mount it with 120mm fan holes.

The description is in the product info is wrong/misleading from my point of view. At the moment there is only one Scythe fan with real 140mm distance between the holes: the one mounted on Zipang but this one is not sold in a retail version in Europe at the moment.

So you only have Kaze Maru with big diameter but 120mm screw holes / mounting.

Well that's great then. Purchased those two for nothing.
Any comments by Scythe on this misleading product information and how to resolve this issue???

Hello sentinel1001,

in the product info is also written that this fan has 120mm holes for mounting, so you can use it as 120 mm to 140 mm cpu cooler fan replacement or you can use it as a 120 mm to 140 mm case fan in standard 120 mm wholes. because 120 mm fans are standard, not 140 mm fans.

But you right when you said that it is not clear enough in the product info.
We will update this.

Sorry for this.

Kind Regards
Chris
