Default Scythe Ninja 4 memory clearance

I'm getting this cooler for my i5-6600K, but it's absolutely HUGE and I'm afraid there's going to be a collision with a RAM stick of which I intend to install 2.

Do you think it will fit on these motherboards?
GA-Z170-D3H: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-Z170-D3H (rev. 1.0)
GA-Z170-HD3P: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-Z170-HD3P (rev. 1.0)

Btw. which of the 2 mobos is better? I'm a noob when it comes to motherboards.

EDIT: Sorry, wrong section. This belongs in Mainboard compatibility.

How high are your RAM?
The heatsink of Ninja 4 covers first memory slot (height ~ 40mm). The fan covers three slots. It is possible to mount the fan on all sides of heatsink.

I see no great difference between the two boards, GA-Z170-HD3P seems to be a little better.

Hallo,
I bought a Ninja 4. The installation guide -> Fan installation guide -> picture 2, shows that the fan should only be installed on the side of the cooler where the heatpipes enter/exit bottom heatsink. That would mean, that the fan could not be mounted on all sides.
What is correct? I was about to install the cooler, but will wait first for an answer.
Thanks for the help.

The fan can be mounted on all sides.

The picture does not refer to the fan but to the heat sink. You can see the heat pipes illustration (with respect to compatibility to memory).

Hallo Sansay,
Thanks for the reply. Actually, I was referring to picture 2 in the fan installation guide, which is on the same page as the items list. I think that picture is then misleading. It does not show a reference to memory. It only shows the position of the fan, relative to the position of the heatpipes.
Thanks for the help.

Hello again and sorry for this late reply.

In the end, I went with the Gigabyte Z170X-UD3 motherboard for more durability.

I have 2x Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 2666MHz with one empty RAM slot between them and there is at least 1 milimiter of clearance between it and the FAN. The fan on the heatsink is centered and the heatsink itself isn't a problem. Even when you have taller RAM, you can move the fan upwards very quickly and easily because it's only held in place by 2 clips.
