Default Please Help! Mounting mini on AM2

Hi,

I'm trying to mount the mini on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H board.

Using the default clip settings, it's impossible. I put on the first clip, but then to get the other on, would require so much force, the MB/CPU surely breaks. In fact, due to the pushing it got the to point, where the clip wouldnt even "grab hold" anyhow.

So, I moved the clips to the middle position, and it is easier - clips on straight away. HOWVER, there is some movement with the Cooler. I wouldnt move the unit basically, otherwise there's a chance that something comes loose.

I'm thinking that because the unit will never move - it's ok like this????

What is the proper way to install? How can it be so hard?
Thanks.

Hello egg,

are you sure, that there are no capacitors which touch the Mini? That's the first question.

Mounting on Am2 normally should be quite easy, attach, screw, ready. Of course there is a bit power needed, but the MB should not bent and the CPU shouldn't brake of course.

The clips should be move until the very end, otherwise they could snap back.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi,

no, it sits on top of the CPU fine. Then when i go to push the clips down onto the CPU plastic sides (to hold on), it seems impossible.

I'm guessing I need to take the MB out, and do it all again

just noticed your comments - this is with Clips, that bend over and around. There's no screws to be made.

Ah Sorry for the confusion, I was thinking about something else - thats the problem when you were answering lots of support-questions

Actually, you really have to try it with the mainboard taken out - I'm sorry.

Cheers,
Stefan

Well, do you only think it could brake or does it cause abnormal bending of the board?
