Hi,
I have the ******** and am using it on a XFX 780i board. I used to use the push pins, put one of the pins no longer locks properly in the down position, so I recently replaced them with the universal retention kit. At the moment I have it installed without the spacer, and the normal insulation washers that come with the kit. This has made my CPU 5-8 degrees warmer then it was using the push pins! So on this board should I just use the spacer, or will I be able to get better cooling without it using thinner insulation washers? Thanks for the advice! Copper Spacer will increase the temps BUT it will give you more pressure. Depending on the thermal grease it might get better because of the contact surface. I would also recommend to use other insulation washers, which are thinner. You can even make them on your own, use paper for example.
