Question Secure a loose Mugen 2??

hello,

hopefully someone can help me out here.

recently had my newly assembled system - Gigabyte ex58 ud3r & i7 920 with a Scythe Mugen 2 delivered.

however the HSF unit is not secure, it feels a bit loose! if i apply a little pressure the bios cpu temperatures drop from 60 to 39 degrees within a few seconds.

how can i access & secure/tighten the mounting screws of the heatsink?
there is no visible access!

TIA
xAn

thanks for your reply,

i didnt assemble this system, it was delivered twice with a loose hsf!
after some searching i found i would need to remove the mobo to secure the hsf.

what a terrible way to secure something that seems to shake loose so easily.
i'll have to let the local pc shop do it for me.

cheers

it is the best way to secure such a big cooler on a motherboard. But you said it was completely assembled already, so the PC shop who did this did it wrong. So it is necessary to tighten the screws to the end of the winding for correct fitting.

well, the shop claims the cooler has come loose due to heavy handling during transport!
it goes through 2 distribution centers before delivery!

i must say i'm starting to question their service technicians competance.
hopefully the local shop will do better.

thanks again

this sounds horrible!

So lets see what your local shop can do...
