Default Scythe Mugen 2 Screws - How to order?

Where can I order screws for mounting the CPU retention bracket for a 1366 motherboard for the Scythe Mugen 2? (The medium screws that go into the original cpu retention plate from the motherboard.)

I was in the process of installing a Mugen 2 today after reading the great reviews from various sites. The concept of a backplate was great, as in my experience with a Scythe Ninja, it gives better pressure for decent performance.

For some reason, the processor wasn't making full contact with the cooler when I installed it. The imprint of the TIM showed only the sides touched. The screws holding the heatsink can only go so far so I couldn't tighten it anymore.

So I figured I didn't tighten the retention bracket to the backplate enough.

Long story short, the screw broke in half. The backplate is also slightly deformed.

I'm not blaming anyone, it was probably my own fault.

Anyway, now I need screws and perhaps a backplate too, depending on how much it'll cost.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Ken

hi,

sounds a little bit strange, but why you want to tighten the screws so extremly? Thats why the screws have a winding that ends in the half of the screw. thats the best pressure point.

What you said about the imprint of the TIM shows me that your Cooler Base or your IHS is concave. So the only thing here to prevent this is to leap your IHS. Otherwise you have to live with that.

Thanks for your fast response Chris!

You're right, I realized it was a bad idea after the screw broke!

Sorry I wasn't clear, the screw I'm referring to (the one that goes through the backplate, and into the intel locking hatch/bracket), it's one that doesn't have a half-way winding end.

The reason I did it was because it wasn't making contact. What's weird though, is when I rested the mugen 2 HSF on top, (not mounted since my screws broke) it was making proper contact. I was enjoying about 5-10c better temperatures. I had it sitting on my desk, so gravity was providing the pressure.

News from USA Office:

Attach your Mugen 2 proof of purchase invoice to support@scythe-usa.com. Scythe USA can ship your replacement parts if it’s still under warranty. You will, however need to pay for shipping and handling which estimates to be around $14.
