I had a Scythe Katana II SCKTN-2000 installed in a LGA775 motherboard.
I experienced high cpu temps (over 80 C under load), so in an effort to remove and reinstall it I broke 1 push-pin and bent another.. I really hate push-pins so I am looking for a push-pin free mounting method. I searched the internet for a solution and I discovered Universal Retention Kit 3 SCURK-3000. Will it be compatible with my cpu cooler? (in the "Compatible CPU Cooler List" it lists only Katana 3 SCKTN-3000, 3000A, 3000I.) |

Thank you for you reply, I'd like to ask something else.
My motherboard tray does not have a rear access hole, so I'll have to take out the motherboard in order to install the backplate. Let's say that after the installation of the cpu cooler I want to reinstall it (or replace it with a new one also compatible with the retention kit), do I have to remove the motherboard again in order to do so or the installation of the backplate is an one time thing? |

The Ret Kit is always being screwed / secured FROM THE BACK. So if you want to remove or change the cooler it is necessary to get access to the back of your mobo.

Basically you can install all coolers with a back plate also with the back plate of the Universal Retention Kit 3 SCURK-3000 (the F.M.B.S.4 back plate doesn' support socket 754/939/940). But you can't screw off or screw on a cooler! You must the remove the mainboard to installing a cooler.
You find a example here: YouTube ( only 2nd - I'm to slow .....)
