Default Thermal controlled fans w/sensor wire.

I would like to see some Scythe fans that are thermal-controlled with a long sensor wire. It can be done.....I have some 120mm Globe fans like this. The problem with the Globe fans is the temperature curve.......the sensor has to reach 70C to ramp up to 12V.

A useful temperature curve would be 5V @28C, ramping up to 12V @45C. You could place the sensor in a spot that actually would reach 45C (such as the CPU area). You could design an adjustment ability for the temp curve.....something like the Antec fans with their fan speed adjustment dongle.

I'd gladly pay the higher price for such a "super-fan".

Hi bluefront,

That's a really rare request. We used to sell such fans but they were selling really bad. The VR fans are selling better but nothing compared to normal "fixed" RPM fans.

The fans with a variable range of RPM are usually more nosie, because thesy can not be optimized for high or low rpm, this casues extra noise. There is nothing like thermal sensor controlled fan in development and I assume this might not change. PWM is kind of doing a similar job for CPU Coolers, doesn't it?

Cheers

Perhaps so.....and I don't know what percent of your sales is simply single fans. But I'm not about to buy a new MB or a new HSF when all I need are a few case fans. There are many thermal controlled fans around.....and some work fairly well. But I would think Scythe could produce a really quiet, powerful, thermal controlled fan.......one that would sell well because it was superior.
