Hey,
I recently bought a Kamariki 4 PSU. Love it! The problem is that i cannot find any information on the Intelligent Fan feature. It says that it controls fan speed based on system load but frankly i cannot tell the difference - the fans don't seem to change speed when i play Crysis for example, or when my system is on full load. They don't seem to slow down when nothing is running either. So, I know this forum is for fan controllers, but i wonder if anyone can give me a little more info on the "intelligent fan" feature... I want to know how the RPM is adjusted based on PSU load. Since i bought the 750W Kamariki 4 with plans to add another ATI card i am currently not going over 400W load ... so that might explain why fan speeds don't change. If the "heavy load" threshold is set to maybe 600W the fans will never be at 100%. Maybe they are just running at minimum.Thanks! |

Hmm, that doesn't help much. Still missing details about what temp thresholds we are talking about, etc.
I am assuming there is a temperature sensor inside the PSU. In that case the case fans are spun up a little faster when the temp inside the PSU is higher? That doesn't classify as "case fan" feature. In no way does that feature correlate to "system load", unless there is direct connection between PSU temps and system load. The only way that could be useful is if the fans attached to the PSU blow at the PSU. Frankly speaking that sounds like false advertising. The wording on all Scythe sites states that the purpose of this feature is "to better optimize the airflow for your PC system". From what you are telling me the only thing that feature tries to optimize is the airflow of the PSU (and not very successfully at that). It's like using the HDD's temp sensor to control case fans... not very intelligent at all if you ask me. A bit disappointed. But hey, I bought a PSU not a fan controller. Please, clarify such features before advertising them as selling points. Thanks, Svetoslav |

Here is an idea. In the next revision of the PSU you can make it so you can control the case fans really based on system load (as in how much power are the components sucking right now).. which is what i thought this feature was in the first place. So, to make that work you just need to somehow calibrate the fan controller to remember low and high system load. A simple switch will do i guess. Also, after adding new hardware components you could have to recalibrate again as your power consumption changes.
You can also include some sort of control for the fans' min/max speed. For example, i might want to have them stop completely if the system is doing nothing and go only 75% if the system is at full load... Anyways, just an idea. |
