Default Scythe ********

Hello,

I bought a Scythe ******** which I successfully used on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 motherboard with a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU.

Having used the above setup for more than a year it seems that the motherboard got bent because of ********'s weight.

I am now thinking about buying Scythe's Retention Kit. Will it help support the cooler better so that the motherborad won't get any worse? Does the kit include alternative clips to the Intel-spec horrid ones of ********?

Thanx for the help

The name of Inf. was changed to Mugen.

If you use the retention kit the socket 775 pushpin clips will be removed from Mugen and they'll be replaced by the socket 478 clips along with the appropriate rails and a backplate. There'll no longer be any bending of your mainboard.

Please note that you need the original socket 478 clips that were part of Mugen's package to install Mugen with ret kit as Mugen has a special tool free mounting system. So you use rails and backplate from the kit and the original 478 clips from the Mugen package.

I can highly recommend this mounting method I am also using it with Mugen and E6700.

Bye Oli
