Hi!
Would you recommend using the Shuriken on an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ EE, mounted on a Gigabyte MA790X-DS4 board? The RAMs will have "normal" size or perhaps fins not higher than 50 percent than this size. The main issues are collisions with RAM modules and cooling ability for the CPU, of course. Thank you in advance! fqdt-oe |

Hi,
if it is the X2 6000+, then it should be "OK" but do not expect super good results, because the CPU is one of the higher wattages. You should rather use a higher model for such a CPU, e.g. Ninja, Mugen, Zipang. Any special target you have? Cheers, Shinigami

using the Shuriken because it is a low-noise type, gives enough cooling power for most CPUs, will not use too much space in all directions, has an attractive price and should deliver air to many other components like RAMs and voltage regulators. PWM will additionally reduce noise, as there will be long idle times. And if I should move, it is better to transport a computer with a low profile, ultra-light cooler on the CPU than with a heavy tower. In short, the Shuriken seems to be the best combination of cooling power, low-noise and a few other positive properties available for its price. Kind regards, fqdt-oe |

Maybe to heavy for transport issues. Jonathan |

Compared with the Shuriken, it is loud. But Shinigami's suggestion to use
the Zipang seems to be a good idea. This cooler is almost as silent as the Shuriken, but even at full speed. With reduced speed, the noise of the two should be similar. Unfortunately, the Zipang is more expensive and does not fit into all cases, so it could be also a matter of space. If NRW only would border to Hamburg ... Thank you for your suggestion! fqdt-oe |

Hello,
Shuriken has a bit overrated dbA. If you use it with PWM, it is really silent. Should be fine with 89W for sure. It depends on what is your biggest priority. Andy Samurai Master and Zipang woudl work as well, but they will be a lot bigger compared to Shuriken. I think Shuriken would do the job. Andy

Otherways, I can send it back or just wait until I replace the CPU with a Phenom quad core, which would really require Zipang. Thank you for your help! fqdt-oe |

Thank you, the cooler is really quiet, even at 1800 rpm, which was
the maximum. Below 800 rpm, it cannot be heard. The S-Flex 800, used as case cooler, is the loudest component. But Shuriken has a disadvantage: The ends of the heatpipes are blocking one memory socket when using Corsair DHX modules (delivered instead of the normal types I have ordered and paid). Even normal modules can only inserted here before Shuriken is installed. I solved the problem by using sockets 3 and 4 instead of 1 and 2, but with four modules, that would become difficult. Kind Regards, Frank |
