Hello.

I Just bought a nice Shuriken.

this one got a 4 pins power connector .
My motherboard has a 3 Pins fan power connector.

how do i connect the 4 pins fans on my 3 pin motherboard ?
if possible whats the limitation vs a 4-4 pins link ? //

Just put the 4pin cable on the 3pin socket on your board. It will fit. False installation is nearly impossible due to mechanical layout of the plug. One pin of the cable/plug won't be connected. This pin would be used for PWM operation of the fan (= controlling the fan speed via the mainboard; automatic fan speed regulation based on temps).

And than the cooler runs with 100% ? Or works the voltage regulation by the mobo?

No the regulation doesn't work - at least on Asus. I think there could be some boards which can also realize speed regulation on a 3-pin connector but the Asus feature "qfan" has never been working with 3-pin fans on my Asus boards. Although there are different reports concerning this matter in a German support thread for Asus P5K.

For PWM type regulation the fourth pin is necessary. I am using Zalman Fanmate 2 for regulation purposes but Scythe is offering a new fan controller if you want to do it from outside of the case.

The voltage regulation of my mobo work with the current coolerfan, its a Gigabyte k8nmf.
The question is, is it possibel to control the fan of the Shuriken by voltage regulation? Btw, when it works with the Fanmate it must also work by the mobo

Practically every fan I know can be controlled by voltage regulation. Less voltage means less rpm. The only difference is how much voltage the fan needs to start up at all.

If your mainboard doesn't allow small steps to setup the voltage it is possible that the board doesn't deliver enough start up voltage. You should test it but chances are quite good.

I got 3 slip stream fans and another 2 S-Flex here and they are all doing well with voltage regulation. The Shuriken fan will pe perfectly controlable by voltage, too.

Surprisingly you don't have a 4-pin PWM connector. The fan can be controlled by voltage, but it is made for PWM, which should be better for it. Nevertheless it should work fine.

Rest was explained in detail, nothing to add from my side.
