Default Fan Clicking Noise

Guys,

I have a new Shuriken fan - installed on a P5N7A-VM board.

There is a slight clicking noise when the fan is running - the noise is present regardless of the speed the fan is running. I have used speedfan to adjust.

I have listened to the samples of 'sound' from Frostytech - their sound seems to be mainly the 'air' sound associated with the fan. Mine definately has some tiny clicking sound, as if the fan is touching something.
If helpful I could try recording the sound and attaching??

I cannot obviously see any touching anywhere.

So the questions I suppose are:
- is this a common thing ?
- can I move the fan impellor (fan blade fixing) easily to possibly remove the noise ?
- can I remove the fan impellor thing to check ?

Advice appreciated.

Thanks

Richard.

Default Sampled Sounds

I took some mp3 recordings of the fan sounds to see whether or not they are sounding 'normal'.

Feedback welcomed.

Thanks

Hello Richard,

sorry for the late answer, I was fighting with a nice influenca the last days.

Actually, your fan seems to be broken. Could you please send it back to your reseller for RMA?

Kind regards,
Stefan - Scythe EU Hamburg

Stefan,

Actually getting the fan was a bit of a long process... was not able to buy one easily here in Shanghai, so I got some friends in Australia to buy online and ship through to me.

The cost of RMA'ing it would be a little excessive...

Besides, the fan seems functionally OK (can control the speed of the fan, and it cools the CPU OK), just a little noisier than the ideal.

I will figure something out - thanks anyway.

Hello rwm,

we dont sell directly to Taiwan, Hong kong, China, so the best way is to buy from US online store.

Cheers,

Stefan,

New fan received and functioning fine. Quiet as a mouse.
Thank you very much for the excellent customer service.

Greatly appreciated...

Now if only I could purchase directly in China :-)
