Default Scythe Shuriken Rev.B fit to Gigabyte P35-DS3R

I have a Gigabyte motherboard (P35-DS3R) with a Core2Duo E6550 processor and I want to replace the stock cpu cooler because its too loud.I have no tempretures issues and I dont care about overclocking.I just want a more sillent pc so I want to ask if anyone knows if this Shuriken Rev.B fits to this mobo.
I select this cooler because my case is Thermaltake Junior VC3000 and the cooler must be not very high because maybe it blocks the rear 120mm fan of this case.
The main reason I post this is because I'm afraid the big width dimentions of this shuriken and I'm worried because the chipset hitsink is too close to cpu socket. So is there anyone can help me to do the right decision about witch cooler can fit to this mobo? Thanks a lot

Hello tarantules,

you can fit Shuriken without problem on Gigabyte P35-DS3R. The heatsink look very small and should be not height enough to block Shuriken.

Thanks for the info. One more question about the noise of shuriken's fan in comparison with the stock cpu fan.Do I will see big difference between the two fans? Would have more silent pc ?

Hello,

stock cooler are a bad joke from Intel & AMD. Performance is very bad and you will receive very fast high noise levels. But if you have not a HTPC look for Katana 3 =). Good price, good performance, pwm fan and a easy mounting system, too. Katana 3 need lower rpm ranges (noise) for the same performance like Shuriken.

Thanks a lot.I saw the dimentions of katana 3 and it is shorter than shuriken's (except height).I dont have HTPC so I think that cooler can fit to my thermaltake junior VC3000.So I'll go for that katana 3.I hope to make a good choice. Thanks again
