Default Question about cpu fan (not heatsink) replacement.....

Can i replace the 100mm cpu fan on my Shuriken with a 100mm Kaze Jyu slim fan? Because i read it goes max 2000 rpm and the one on my shuriken is able to handle 2200....

I've had my fan for well over a year but it's starting to make noise, i think that the bearings are wearing out because it suddenly keeps going off center.

( And forgive me for not introducing myself, my name is salidarius and i love scythe! )

Hello Salidarius,

yes you can replace the fan. You can use a 25 mm thickness fan, too : ). If you want you can send us a support request on our homepage. Send us a copy of invoice and we will send you a fan for replacement for free (Europe).

Best Regards,
OKi

Default cpu fan (not heatsink) replacement

I have a Scythe suriken low profile heatsink which I resently installed on my motherbooard. I have had problems with the computer going to sleep on me. Sometime it will go into a restart cycle . I found out that it would not do this if I placed a fan to blow on the motherboard. Therefore, I want to get a 92mm x25mm replacement fan. I have the room to do that. Can anyone give me the compatible fans to install in my computer? I was looking for a 55cfm or greater fan. I would also like a quiet fan.

You could take a look at the new Kama Flow 2 series which offers a quiet good EX-FDB bearing: Kama Flow 2 92: Scythe EU GmbH

They are available in speeds from 1200 up to 220p rpm - but 3-pin which means no PWM operation as Shuriken's stock fans offers it.

If you want 4-pin PWM 92x25mm you could pick this one: Kama PWM: Scythe EU GmbH

This should ensure a rather quiet operation - if not running full load and if your mainboard adjusts the fan correctly via PWM signal.
