Arrow J&W MINIX 780G & Shuriken Series

Hello From Sydney Australia!

I've just recently purchased the J&W MINIX 780G mini-ITX motherboard and will be using the AMD Phenom II X4 900e 2.4 GHz Processor HD900EOCK4DGI.

I've been speaking with the support team (Robert) very helpful thank you and have been trying to find a suitable HSF for my project.

I've added some pix of MB & my carpc project design which is still not complete and changing all the time

I hope that this information can help others with similar mini-itx mainboards and limited space.

After some measuring, we have determined that the Big Shuriken will fit, so i will need to find one here in Sydney and try it out. It will be a week or so before I can try this out, so fingures crosses it will work out without problems and wasting too much money

Again I am open for further suggestions

Cheers
Kosti

My question is will the Big Shuriken be a better choice than the Shuriken Rev B and if the Big is the better option to use, what is the smallest in height for a fan (like the new Scythe slipstream fans ive heard about)

Also will mounting be an issue I can I use the existing HSF connector thats on the MB?

Thanks

Anyone know where I can get this in Sydney Australia??

Also does the team Scythe believe I will not have issues with installing the BIG Shuriken?

Thanks

Thumbs down

[rant] It's been a few weeks and I still cannot get a Big Shuriken anywhere is Sydney did the manufactures only make enough for it to be reviewed

Seriously, there is said to be some of these in the USA selling for around $39.99 but over here, the ridiculous price mark up is just pathetic.

How can I get one of these HSF from Scythe without paying a freakin fortune?

So dissapointed
[end rant]

Default RRP and Availability

Hi Kosti,

This particular HSF is not currently in stock in Australia, your timing was just as stock ran out. Please note we (Mittoni) are a distributor and hence the price of $119 is just an RRP and not a street price. You can find it at the other stores, and other resellers will also re-activate the product once it comes back into stock in another week.

The first shipments sold out extremely fast, the next arrives on the 21st Feb (approx).

If you can contact our sales dept with your email detais, we can a) let you know of the accurate arrival time closer to the date, and b) give you reseller info of someone close to you that will have the HSF as soon as it returns?

Thank you!

Unhappy

Hello Friend, Thanks for taking the time to write up a comment, although my rant continues, no offence..

I have a quote from Scorptec who state the ETA is the 22/02/10.

But still cannot understand the massive markup, WTF is wrong with Australian Business? Seriously..pls dont give me the bleeding heart story or running a business - ebay has it for $40 US

To give u an idea the price from Scorptec is as follows as per my order request

1 XScythe - SC-SCBSK-1000 Scythe Big Shuriken CPU Cooler ETA 22/02/10 $75.00

1 XScythe - SC-SY1425SL12M Scythe 140mm Kaze Maru 1200RPM Fan1-3 days $29.00

When comparing the fan price from Scythe US website, it's shown as 19.99USD compared to 29AUD - somewhat reasonable, but when comparing the HSF from newegg it's 39.99USD compared to 75AUD.

Do I have to go through the maths? freaking down right robbery. Using the currency @ 0.88 for 1AUD

Fan 19.99 USD = 22.5265 AUD
HSF 39.99 USD = 45.0642 AUD

Lets say cost of shipping from USA or EU around $20USD
20.00 USD = 22.5378 AUD

Total = 90.1285

Compared to Scorptec of $117.00 incl $13 to ship

Difference - $26.8 nice little margin

I honestly do not think your business could do this cheaper than scorptec, but I am hopeful I will get one of these HSF to try as I still do not know if it will suite my motherboard and will not hit any of the components in my design, hence my caution in not jumping in and buying.

I realise that by these comments, no one will be wanting to sell me one, LOL

seems I will need to wait until these get flooded to ebay and grab a bargin

Kind Regards,

I am amazed that even Scythe dont see the issue here and my frustration.

Here I am trying to support there product by trying to test fit this HSF on my motherboard, and not even a hit of assistance or even to possible offer a solution and help out by sending me a test sample unit, or a 2nd hand, not even an offer allow me to buy direct at cost price instead from these rip off merchants.

Tell me again why I should even keep posting

Totally annoyed now! what a f*ckin joke!
