Default BCM MX965GME and Big Shuriken: watch this pic and tell me if it's possible!

Hi to all,

I'd like to mount a Big Shuriken but I don't know if it fits my motherboard; I own a BCM MX965GME and in this pic (please click on the thumbnail) you can see the distance between items. It is an Intel core2duo mobile socket p motherboard.. I know it's a strange kind of socket but.. please help me!

the yellow capacitor on the right is 1,2 cm tall and the vertical battery is 1,9 cm tall. The grey passive heat sink is as stated in the picture 3,2 cm tall. Please help me!

I also want to know if I can use the big shuriken in my motherboard even if i have a 3 pins fan connector. What happens if I don't have the fourth?

Best wishes

Stefanello

You can measure and calculate all this on your own using the dimensions available in this forum:
Big Shuriken dimensions

The biggest problem (if it fits basically) is how to install the cooler w/o a clip that fits your socket! There are no Socket P clips available so you have to find a solution on your own.

If you connect a 4-pin fan to a 3-pin connector it runs full speed all the time and you have to organize an alternative speed regulation (e.g. fan controller).

You have to find a solution on your own! Scythe cannot help you as this cooler was never designed for Socket P, sorry. Perhaps you could modify the Socket 775 clips but you'll have to sort this out alone I'm afraid.

Try to search the web for other users trying to apply standard (= desktop) coolers to non-standard (= mobile) sockets.

BIG Shuriken : Scythe EU GmbH

Also search for reviews of the cooler via Google - probably some of the reviewers shot some high res photos.
