Default Zotac 9300 ITX compatibility with Shuriken/Big Shuriken

I read in another forum that the newer revision of Shuriken has a problem to install on the Zotac 9300 ITX, because the mounting clips were extended to accommodate the LGA1156/1366 too. The longer clips actually make contact with the caps and the NB heatsink which can potentially knock it off the chipset.

Because the Big Shuriken is also compatible with LGA1156/1366 sockets, I'm assuming it has the same mounting clips as the Shuriken Rev B, so does this also have the same issue?

Would the 775 Stabilizer kit solve the issue?

Hi,

I bought this cooler yesterday and can fully confirm this. I can not mount the cooler with the heatpipes pointing to the ram because of extended/universal clip (775 & 1366) that is touching one capacitor and gpu heatsink.

And i dont think that 775 stabilizer can help here, i doesnt come with 775 clip.

Anyway my big shuriken is already mounted with thermalright bolt thru kit ( i hate pushpins):

tomek - good to know, at least I know from your experience the Big Shuriken should install fine.

With the thermalright bolt thru kit, due to the size of the heatsink you wouldn't be able to use a screwdriver, did you use a small spanner instead to screw it in?

Also, if you would not mind answering, what is the amount of motherboard overhang with the Big Shuriken? The question has been asked before in this forum, but no definitive answer.

Also, I see that you installed the hsf with the heatpipes parallel to the ram sticks whereas in the below pic, it is installed the other way around.

I'm using small, thin screwdriver

About 15-16mm with heatpipes:

10-11mm without:

But when you mount big shuriken with heatpipies pointing to the ram you will see this:

Thank you tomek, this is very useful information.

I wonder if Scythe can still provide the original 775 mounting clips that came with the original Shuriken (before Rev B), I think that will solve the issue with the capacitors and gpu heatsink.
