Just installed the setsugen!

hey,

i've just installed the setsugen on my Club3d 4870 Oc Edition and I want to tell you some things i recognized during the installation.

The installation guide with that copper plate that comes onto the gpu is and then installing the setsugen from above is not really working practically.

Those screws keep sliding back and forth, there's nearly no way you can apply the setsugen from above to the graphic card.

For me the best way was to lay down the setsugen on the table, applying thermal grease onto the copper plate, then putting the copperplate with the greasy side onto the setsugen, then putting the graphic card with thermal grease on the gpu onto the copper plate.

That was easier in my opinion cause you could control those screws from the setsugen much better.

And I didn't fasten the screws to maximum but nearly, you only see like 1mm left of the thread of the screws and the plate is bent at the corners.
I hope the setsugen is not applied to hard.

First bad thing I noticed was at the startup, after logging into windows I just had a black screen, nothing happened, I thought like "fuck, something must have gone wrong" I turned off the computer, then rebooted again and watched if the fan starts. The fan from the setsugen started and I still didn't know why there's was a blackscreen on first boot.

After second boot everything somehow worked fine and CCC shows me 42° gpu temp, that's 10° lower than with standard cooler.

Btw, I didn't flip the fan cause I didn't want to hear those rips hitting the fan... But actually I want to flip it if I know how I can make it not to rattle.

And btw the setsugen fits hardly in my case, because the setsugen somehow is not parallel to the graphic card, there's a little grade in the front of the setsugen ( maybe its a little bit askew on the graphic card) and one heatpipe end touches the side of my case.

I plugged the 3pin into a slot on my mainboard called "sysfan", I hope that works.

Or if there are any other possibilities that I can run the setsugen with my Kaze Master fan control, let me know...

Can I connect the Setsugen fan to the kaze master and simply turn the control on the back off?

Hallo Mr. Kabuto,

also die kleine Kupferplatte brauchst du nicht mal verbauen, wenn du von der Höhe auskommst. Wärmeleitpaste kommt direkt auf die GPU. Wie ich das verstanden habe, hast du die Kupferplatte mit WLP beschmiert und auf den Setsugen drauf, was nicht richtig ist.
Wichtig ist das die GPU mit WLP Kontakt zur Kupferplatte bzw. dem Setsugen hat.

Du kannst natürlich auch mit deinem KazeMaster/Kaze Server den Fan kontrollieren. Wenn dich das Kabel nervt sowie die Blende einfach abknipsen und mit Iso Band rum

Ne, ich habe ganz normal auf der Gpu wlp drauf, da drauf kommt dann quasi die Kupferplatte, auf der Oberseite der Kupferplatte ist nochmals wlp drauf und da dann direkt die Bodenplatte des Setsugen.

Ich hab also bei allen metallischen Kontaktstellen Wlp dazwischen. Ich bin mir auch ziemlich sicher, dass es so in der Beschreibung stand.

Und zu der Methode mit dem Durchknipsen: Geht das nicht ein wenig schonender? Kann ich nicht einfach den 3 pin Molex an meinen Kaze Master stecken und den Regler auf der Case Rückseite auf Null stellen? Dann könnt ich doch mit den reglern der Lüftersteuerung Spannung auf den Lüfter geben oder nicht?

Ja klar das geht. Das mit dem abknipsen ist anderes gemeint : ) Du kannst mit deiner Lüftersteuerung den Fan kontrollieren.

Abknipsen für die Leute, die vielleicht die Blende als störend empfinden, genauso wie das Kabel dazu und nicht viel auf Garantie geben hehe. Was für die Bastler.

Mit WLP gut dual dann passt das.

ah hab ihn ganz normal an die lüfter steuerung angeschlossen, der hintere regler vom setsugen muss aber trotzdem bis hinten hin aufgedreht werden ansonsten passiert auch beim Kaze Master nichts, wenn hinten komplett auf off gedreht ist.

Jetz konnt ich den fan mal auf 2k rpm drehen, mein mainboard hat es nur auf 1680 geregelt, naja bei 2k rpm hört man den fan schon sehr, aber auf 1700 gehts eigentlich, lass den wohl auch da in dem bereich laufen.

after that reboot again I had a blackscreen before I saw the desktop for like 5 seconds, i still don't know why...

/edit: Just restarted the computer without turning it off completely, now after logging into windows there was no blackscreen...strange

Dann wirds mal Zeit für nen Stresstest. Der Fellkringel oder Combustor, min. 10 min. aber mach sofort aus, wenn die GPU 90° erreichen sollte.

hab grad ma ati tool installiert, da zeigt er halt son fellwürfel, kaum start ich den test hör ich son leises fiepen aussem rechner, denke ma da hat die graka gut zu ackern gehabt, kaum klick ichs weg hört das fiepen auf.
