Had to change to another cooler.

It should be able too since I'm using the same cooler on my other 4870 and the temps on that card are fine. (45C idle / 55-60C load)

There are some small but important differences between RV770 and 790 -

At first - my powercolor 4890 was an OC card with 950 Mhz core frequency. this is 100 Mhz more than a reference 4870. at second it has 1024 Mb GDDR5 ram which is the double quantity and its running on higher frequency too.

in fact, this causes approx. 40% more tdp than a reference 4870 and about 20% more than a reference 4890.

And if you want to know about your 4870 - wait for summer ...

Edit : Seen at last that you spoke about my experience with setsu on GTX275 - lol - but its the same like the powercolor i tried first.

Setsugen is not my recommendation for cards with more TDP than 150 Watts.

Hi there, that sounds just fine. But from my own experience I recommend to check the VRM temps too. You can do that with the tool GPU-Z. The temps on my 4870 went to unhealthy regions with just the Setsugen and the self adhesive tiny coolers...

Update:

Got the second cards temps down to a reasonable level, not great but ok.
(Dont mind the uneven CPU temps, just changed to the Corsair H50 and missed to screw it even enough on all screws)

Things I did:
Changed to another fan (higher RPM and controlled by an third party fan controller)
Replaced the heatsinks on the RAM's
Cleaned the card (again) Isopropylalcohol and Medical Benzinum even more.
