I bought a Setsu for my Powercolor HD4890 PCS+ - and i'm sorry, but it's incompatible. Its a non reference design pcb.
So with using the copperspacer or without, the cooler gets not enough pressure on the chip. This is caused by the capacitors positioned in front of voltage switches. They're full solid, cup capacitors and the cooler is setting on them with its fins. So the graphics card always overheats. ![]() Another question - is it usable with a geforce gtx275 reference design ? Or seems i'll get similar problems with ? On the other hand - the cooler could be defect - empty heatpipes or something else. It's getting very hot with vent at highest. Should i rma it ? Thanks for your answers - i'm believing in scythe products, my zipang I is a wonderful cooler. Last edited by Genghis99; 06-11-2010 at 01:33 PM. |

Hi Genghis99,
I'm so unfortunately, your 4890 does not work with Setsugen. If they change the reference design it can happen that our cooler don´t work with changed design. Setsugen - GTS 250 / GTX 260 / GTX 275 / GTX 280 / GTX 285 fit Hmm, very hot you mean with GTX275 ? Temperatures with rpm xxxxx ? Best Regards, OKi

Next days i'll get a new GTX275 - i'll give Setsu a try with it.
The temperatures where high, when i mounted it on the 4890 - i think this was caused by setting on the capacitors - with not enough pressure on the chip. For Setsugen Rev.B it will be better to have about 10mm more space between PCB an cooler - nobody needs much PCI slots ... Then, with the turned fan, it will be a perfect cooler. (Until some PCB designers get on drugs again)Thank you for your answer - you got another long time customer. |
