Helli Alex,
To teach a Raptor how "she" can be silent is realy hard. But its possible to silence them a little bit with the quiet drive. In IDLE and Normal Mode its ok, but the seek mode of this drive is hardcore. My suggestion for a Raptor is to do a double out of a small an big Quit drive, than you get the best silent solution for this rocket. Cheers Alex

hi alex, this is alex...
![]() well, to be honest, the velociraptor surprised me. I had my doubts about the noise but actually the drive is quite a silent one! at least when in idle mode you can barely hear the drive. Only when seeking it's noisy. I guess I'll try the QD 2,5 and that will be it. I have a fan blowing towards the HDD cage (the middle front one inside the Antec P183) and I have a better feeling cooling the quiet drive holding my (veloci)raptor. If I'd put the small QD into a big one and mount it to 5,25" then there's about no air flow around it. cheers, alex |

Ok, keep up, I wodner how you plan to modify it. I mean the width is a fit, isn't it? It is only about the height? Foam is always ncie, onls 3 sided contact is already fine is my guess so far. Might need to buy one for my personal use and test =)

Hi guys, I just built the velociraptor into a quiet drive 2,5". Everything went ok - I just had to leave out one of the thermal pads. I hope that's going to be no problem (concerning temperature. We'll see.
Only bad thing is that the QD hasn't screw holes on the bottom so you can't mount the case that way, only over the screws on the side of the case. :-/ |
