Default Orochi + Kaze Maru with different fan speeds

The diagram shows the influence of Kaze Maru fan-speed on the cooling-performance of Orochi. Room temperature was 19°C, CPU was stressed using prime95 multi (small FFTs).

The test was performed outside of a PC Case in constant environment without airflow.

Additional Test in semi-passive mode to show more "real" conditions:

Case: Fenriswolf 2x 1200 Slipstream@5V (front/rear)
CPU: Phenom 2 X4 940BE @3 GHz/1,25 V
GPU: ATi HD3850

Prime 95 multithread Small FFTs

Temp: 54°C

You pretty much see the difference in performance. A high RPM fan is good, but still the difference between 1200rpm and 1900rpm is really small. If you can achieve a decent airflow inside the PC Case the airflow with e.g. 800rpm should constantly cool the system nice, even without the airflow it seems that the system is doing it's job fine.

What was not mentioned, is that this was tested outside a pc case, in a pretty constant environment without additional airflow.

So your test is a proof for the results of the silenthardware.de test when the Orochi was released. The conclusion was/is that the cooler fits best in environments with low fan rpm and less airflow while a fan at high rpm won't add significant improvement in temps.

Orochi is predestined for use as passive oder semi-passive cooler with the supplied 500 rpm Kaze Maru. A good combination also in terms of silence and pretty much similar to Ninja models in its characteristic and scaling with fan rpm.

Still thinking about Orochi concerning my huge Antec 1200 case which will arrive soon - Musashi will then also be applied! As the PSU in this case is located at the bottom there's much room for big coolers around the socket.
