Question Can I use Orochi as passive with Q6600?

Hi, I'm about to build a new system and I want it to be really silent. If I choose orochi, is it possible to use it without a fan? And probably I won't be able to use the fan considering the dimensions of my case. At first I thought about zipang but I guess it's not suitable for passive cooling. My cpu is intel core2 quad Q6600 with 95W tpm. Any ideas?

Hello australis,

if you have enough airflow inside of your case, passive cooling could be possible.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hmm, my case is mid-atx so after installing such a huge cooler I don't think there will be enough space for air ventilation, so I'll go with Zipang. I hope it's as silent as I think.

It's also possible without enough airflow.

Best regards

With no overclocking, and provided that your case has some basic airflow (Such as PSU fan, or an exhaust fan), it should work.

The fan that comes with the Orochi is very quiet anyway though. It's 500RPM, and barely audible even if you put your ear up to it.
