Default Ninja rev 1 to 1155 w/mugen mount kit

Hi,

I have finally upgaded my dfi opteron s939 system to an Asus P8P67 Pro revb + 2600k and wish to fit the still awesome scythe ninja SCNJ-1000.

Various sources on the web say there is no definite answer to this. Some people reccomend thermalright mounting kit for 1155/1156 to get ninja rev1 to mount.

According to this thread Ninja CU (SCNJ-CU1000) and Core i7 (Socket 1366) the old ninja cu can be mounted to 1366. Would I be able to do the same with my ninja rev1 onto 1155 with the mugen kit?

Many thanks!

Some further input to this topic:
SPCR • View topic - Ninja SNCJ-1000 for socket 1155 with Noctua backplate - pics

And no, no clip available from Scythe can help you with SCNJ-1000.

You'd need two things: clips wide enough for 1155 AND a backplate. BP is no problem but clips are. None available/applicable for the very first Ninja (-1000).

Thanks Oli for that link/CS, all I needed to see Must have missed that thread when I was searching.

Just ordered noctua backing plate kit, few to be found. I'll report back with my results.

@ n4cr:
you bought the wrong motherboard ;-)
with the asrock boards there come the "C.C.O." = Combo Cooler Option.
this offers you the possibility to mount 1155 and 775 cooler.
i just tried to fix my beloved ninja rev 1 rev b onto it - and it works

@ oli: moin herr nachbar ;-)
ich frage mich nur, ob ich den 775 clips vertrauen schenken soll und ob hier nicht ggf eine backplate anzubringen ist...

ich hatte eigentlich für mein neues asrock 768 extreme4
a) 8GB CORSAIR CL9 Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 KIT oder
b) 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL KIT
ins auge gefasst.
ich denke aber die werden mit dem ninja kollidieren - oder?
habt ihr erfahrung in dieser konstellation?
gruß aus eilbek

Default Great success :D~

Definately didn't buy the wrong motherboard pavelyong, just took a bit of basic modding Do like the idea of the ASROCK though with the dual mounting configuration.

Noctua NM13 backplate arrived today and it all went smoothly, minus the crushed fingers the other guy ended up with.
Simply cut the 775 brackets back like the guide referenced by Oli, plastic washer between socket side and clip, screwed her up evenly, crosswise, nice and tight, double checked thermal paste, thinned/respread and replugged board, plugged her all in and booted. Perfect spring pressure. Scythe lives to fight another round, this time vs intel.

2600k stock. Fanless 28 degrees c idle. Half of a 600rpm 180mm fan blowing in her direction and a 7v 120mm fan on exhaust. I'd estimate an 8-10 degree rise over ambient. Load testing to come.

Again thanks Oli for the link and support.

Final words go to Scythe engineering department, whom should give themselves a pat on the back for making such an outstanding cooler, one that has passed the hardest technology test of all; obsolescence.

@N4CR: Thanks for your feedback, report & photos. Your idle temps are superb! Interpolating these results I'd say that the cooler will handle load easily - even OC should be ok. And yes, Mugen 1 and Ninja 1 is NICE - i am also still using both in systems - along with Ninja 3 and Mine 2.

Load temps after 30 minutes prime95 8 threads are 68-69 degrees c fanless.
As soon as load disappears, temperatures drop extremely fast to 40 degrees and then reduce back down to idle (28 deg) gradually.

CPU stock, asus board clocked it to 3.8ghz though I think (still learning how to properly oc/configure intel). Noticed vcore at 1.216-1.224 is a little lower than most (could be software innacuracy though), so this may explain the nice temperatures.

When I start oc'ing I'll strap a a 120mm fan on and see what she does then.

Also Oli 2 of the pictures above don't work for me, says security token error. Have forced refresh but not cleared cache yet, will try later.

Same here. there are some issues with the board's caching mechanism. I'll give the admin a notice.
