Hello all!
Do the motherboard mounting clips for the ninja 2, ninja 2 rev.B and ninja3 fit each other? If I try to use an AM2 clip from the scnj-2000 to the scnj-2100 will it be compatible? I found a ninja cooler at a local store, not sure about the model (the employee didn't know for sure either). They had it as a sample, and now selling it without box and accessories for a lower price. Judging from the curved heatpipes it must be the ninja2 (SCNJ-2000) or a later model. I have a ninja 2 (SCNJ-2000) and planned to buy this one so I could use with my spare am2 clips. (mine is now installed on a 775 mobo) My question is that if that if this cooler turns out to be the ninja2 rev.B (scnj-2100) will my am2 clips from the SCNJ-2000 fit ok? I looked at the scythe website and could not tell if the two coolers (SCNJ-2100 and SCNJ-2000) had any physical difference (in terms of design). Do the clips of the 2000 fit the 2100 and vice versa? what about the scnj-3000? thnx in advance ![]() EDIT: will these clips fit the ninja mini? either rev? Hi,
the difference between Ninja 2 and Ninja 2 Rev.B are the pushpin clips.(the one was only for 775 and the other is compatible with 775,1156 and 1366) The AMD Clips are still the same since 939 I think, AMD changes the socket but not the mounting system. The Ninja 3 has a total different mounting system(backplate etc)

Reiniell, thank you for your reply.
So if I understand correctly, the cooler is exaclty the same (identical), and the rev.B just adds support for the 1156 and 1366? If yes, then the am2 clips would match ![]() But what about the screws? The package of the ninja2 I have, included just 4 screws that I obviously used for it. For the "new" one, I'll have no screws! What is the type and specs for these? Will I be able to buy such screws from the market? Is there a scythe accessory package that includes such screws? For example does the SCCL4-1366 include the screws too or just the 1366 clip? thnx again ![]() |

The screws should be the same, too. Like, I said, the cooler is the same, the only thing changed is the pushpin clip. I can't tell you what kind of screws that are, you should try to get them on the market... I suggest you to look for modelmaking shops, they often have such small screws. You could buy the 4 screws from us of course, but you would pay much money for the shipping if you don't live in Germany. So I think it's better you look out for the screws first in some shops. Contact me for spareparts(link @ signature) if you haven't found them and want to buy them.

I am thinking that if I try to use an inappropriate screw, I might damage the heatsink beyond repair (as it is aluminum).
I do not live in Germany, and I was hoping that I could find such screws by DIN specifications. Holding the cooler and going to the shops to try screws that fit doesn't feel like a good idea if you know what I mean But it might work after all...I see in a local store that they have the SCCL4-1366 mounting clip. Does the package include the screws too or is it just the clip? thanks again

No, in the SCCL4-1366 is only the pushpinclip.

The sample only had the protective tape on the surface that touches the cpu and nothing else. It was in a plexiglass enclosure so that people couldn't touch (or perhaps damage) it, and therefore is in a perfect condition. They have lost the package and accessories and therefore I can only buy the heatsink with its fan. No screws, no clips. They have sold all other units and only the sample remains.
If it had a clip on it like Oli said, I'd buy it and use its screws with my spare AM2 clip from the SCNJ-2000 that I have in my other pc (socket 775). Could you possibly measure a screw from the original package and post here its length? I am probably going to look in the local market for screws, so I could REALLY use this kind of information. Does it have a pointed end or is it horizontally cut like the hdd screws? If u could post a picture it would be great! thnx again guys! Last edited by zahtar; 10-13-2010 at 11:16 AM. |
