As the title suggests, will the ultra kaze physically fit with the clips onto the Ninja due to its 38mm depth (s-flex is 25mm?)
Also, I understand the ninja is really designed for low speed airflow with its widely spaced fins. Will I see any significant returns with cooling with a different fan? Anyone swapped their s-flex for a higher cfm fan? Does it run any cooler? The ultra kaze has nearly 3 times the CFM so I'm wondering will it allow me to overclock my cpu. ![]() Also, can the fan in the Kama Bay be swapped out for an ultra kaze? I'm looking at buying one to boost the level of airflow through my case. TY in advance! Ry |

Check this out concerning the clips:
http://www.scythe-eu.com/forum/coole...lips-38mm.html I would never ever mount such a 3000 RPM monster fan on my Ninja! The N-O-I-S-E this thing produces will be heavy (my advice: OHROPAX.de ).I don't think that any actual CPU would need such a fan just for overclocking. I am very sure that you can overclock your Q6600 with a quiet 120mm fan at about 1000 rpm if you have a good airflow in your case. Perhaps - depending on your case - there are other more subtile ways to improve airflow instead of using many fans with high RPMs. You will need new and longer screws to mount the 38mm fans into the Kama Bay. The stock screws are just long enough for the 25mm fans. The fan in the Kama bay runs at 800 rpm. Why not replace it with a silent Scythe S-Flex running at 1000 or 1200 rpm? That would significantly improve airflow without raising noise too much. You should also think of removing the dust filter of Kama Bay. It does influence the airflow even with the 800 rpm stopck fan quite much as I found out. Bye Oliver

![]() My case has 2x120mm fans, 1 intake, one exhaust running at 1600rpm, and then the s-flex running at 1200rpm. My room gets very hot and i think this is the problem I'm having, my pc is down the side of my desk so not much airflow to it, poor thing Was hoping that putting a kama bay in the front and maybe an ultra kaze on the ninja will give me some headroom to overclock and provide a much more stable temperature. The noise isn't such a problem as my PC is used for gaming (loud) music (loud). It's pretty whisper quiet at the moment but it's probably just getting drowned out by the sounds of gunshots and guitar solos. hahaha! Cheers again oliver for your quick response! ![]() |

The Kama Bay is definitely worth thinking about. I tested it (then put it aside beacuse of noise) but if noise isn't that important for you then you could try it.
With Bama Bay I had a direct airflow from front through the Ninja to the rear fan. That dropped the temps signifanctly (5 degrees Celsius which is really good)! http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/6700/case1ua6.jpg What about your graphics card? If you're a gamer this part will be getting quite hot, too. At the moment I am optimising the cooling of my 8800 GTS to improve overall temp in my case. By adding a selfmade duct I was able to decrease temps. If you think of serious overclocking in your hot room perhaps water cooling would be a better alternative. Regarding your other post the temps are quite ok for a hot room. Perhaps there is some chance of undervolting? Although I raised my FSB from 266 to 320 Mhz I was able to clock down the E6700 from 1.3125V (default) to 1,24V - and it's still stable. This means even more power with lower temps. Bye Oliver

![]() My solution thinking now will probably be: Ultra kaze 2000 or 3000 as exhaust fan s-flex 1600rpm on ninja 1200rpm s-flex in kama bay mounted accross 3x 5.25" bays dust filter removed 1600rpm coolermaster intake fan below kama bay 1x set of ear plugs ![]() |

that picture looks like my case except no kama bay, I wanted to introduce airflow in to the top chamber of the case and this is the perfect solution. I only have an 8600gt right now so graphics card isnt kicking out huge heat, I was thinking of getting another for SLi mode but will probably be investing in an 8800gt next friday along with a new PSU and the kama bay + fans. |

Hi there.
I was already wondering why I get so many notifactions from thew forum in a row ![]() So, let's see. Your conversation is already really far, I would say that Ninja PLUS would perform bet5ter with 2000RPM but above that, it is a not really an improvement. Overclocking is possible with NInja even at Stock, but higher CFM improve the performance. But if you want the real püerformance, go for like 2000RPM with Mugen, this cooler is design for that. I got one at home too. My C3D X6800 was running at 3,7GHz with air with an Minebea 1900RPM back then. Ninja is basically designed for quiet targets and lower airflow. Kama Bay should need longer screws, I didn't try to mount 38mm fans, most likely iut won't work. Greets, Andy

Ahhh, I see, so 2000rpm max on ninja. I don't really want to swap to another cooler If I can help it, I'm getting tired of taking my motherboard out of the case!
![]() I have explained before I'm sure the ninja is capable of alot more than I have seen, it's just I have a very hot room and it has to deal with that, freeing up air flow in and out of my case with kama bay should help alot, coupled with a stronger fan on my ninja and then a very powerful fan for exhaust on the back. I'm hoping for good results. Thanks for the quick reply as always Shinigami one more thing, Nowhere in England / UK can supply ultra-kaze fans, I have checked under distribution but nothing, I can get kama bay but no ultra-kaze fans. Is it possible for me to order from you directly or is there somewhere else I can try? I am reluctant to order from outside the UK due to import charges and delivery problems I have had in the past... not to mention the language barrier should things go wrong! Regards Ryan |
