Default Ninja plus nosie level

Hello,

I have just bought the Ninja Plus Rev B for my little E4400 and my Gigabyte P35-DS3P.But I'm a little disappointed by the noise level of the ninja fan which is high at full speed.

In fact, I have choosen the Ninja instead of the Mugem because Scythe announces a noise level of 20.94 dba for the Ninja.
But on the box of the Ninja I received it is written 25 dba, it is higher !

Fortunately my motherboard can regulate the speed of the fan at 800-900 rpm instead of the full 1200 rpm but i'm worried if I get a powerfull quad-core CPU in the future.

Best Regards,

Sebastian

Nearly every 120mm fan on the market develops a certain unpleasant noise at above 800-1000 rpm. At 1200 or 1600 they are everything else than silent.

Once you get a more powerful CPU with higher wattage and you want to keep a rather silent system there is only one way: undervolt (nearly alsways possible) and more important: improve your airflow!

The Ninja is excellent for cooling systems semi-passively with a very low airflow. But your part is to guarantee a good and consequent airflow by optimising cables, air intake etc.

I am cooling a E6700@3,2Ghz with two 120mm fans at 1000rpm (plus PSU fan). That should also be enough for every quad core system if the airflow is ok. Also remember other possible improvements like retention kit for higher pressure or a better thermal grease. This could really improve your temps.

Bye Oliver

Hi Sebastian and wellcome to our forum.

We changed the stock fans a while ago, the new fan is a bit noiser but has more power and can handle lower voltages. Ninja PLUS is also working fine with Quad Core Processors, so there should be no problem with that.

I do have some old Ninja PLUS fans, but I would recommend you to use the one that is applied with Ninja. Let me know if this is Ok with you.

Andy
