Default What temps are you getting Ninja plus?

Just wondering what sort of temps i should be expecting from my Ninja rev b? What are you guys getting? Particularly interested in intel core 2 quads, I've been reading around and mine seems to be a little high for idle:

under load wont go over 60

the case has 2 other 120mm fans on top of the one on the ninja, room temp I dont know, it can get quite warm. With the stock hsf I was getting 10*c more perhaps, thought the ninja would stomp the temps down to atleast 40 on idle. Any thoughts, anyone else got about that or have i messed up installing the hs?

well, booted up this morning and hottest core was at 38, rest on about 34!! think maybe the paste is starting to set. Will check temps when i get home as i have it running steam atm downloading, I expect the temps will have risen as when i left it was at 40, rest 37ish.

No one else got one of these on a quad?

Hi,

I got a Q6600 at home, but I didn't test it with Ninja yet, got a Mugen for myself. I could check the temps for you next week, as I will be working offline (exhibition) for the rest of the week.

What I can say is that the temps are good and I would not really complain. Ninja is designed for low airflow and works good with higher wattage, which means that it will perform better and will leave a bigger gap to stock cooler with higher wattage and lower rpm. Furthermore, it is said that the thermal grease needs time to develop it's performance.

Greetings,
Andy

thanks for teh reply, that would be great if you could test yours, my chip is the early revision q6600 rated at 105w b3, the later ones are 95w (g0), by nature the g0 stepping runs cooler, mines a bit of a heat monster, I was pleasantly surprised today at the cooler temps.

Have a good week at the exhibition!

Ry

Hi,

yep, I can help you with that. My Q6600 is B3 (ES) so I can get you a decent comparison. I'd need some time, as mentioned before, becasue I will be on a business trip and can't play around in my Support Gear corner to provide you the data. Next week you'll get some screenshots

cheers but im not really bothered about core 2 duos, i would like info on B3 quads. impressive nonetheless, my bro has a duo and its temperatures are practically antarctic compared to mine.

thanks anyway.

a! oky. in what concerns your quad, i see that the VID is set to the max value 1.325v (this is done automaticly by your mobo), and if we eliminate other potential problems (low performance TIM, inadequate cooling, etc), i can guess that the CPU is overvolted. i suggest reading HOWTO: Overclock C2Q (Quads) and C2D (Duals) - A Guide v1.3 on tomshardware forum. IMHO as long as it stays below 60 deg. on 100% load it's fine.
good luck!

LE: Ninja Plus is a great cooling solutions for both dual and quads. i can only hope that scythe will keep oup the good work they done so far.

i've lowered my vxore, I believe VID is the intel reference voltage to get the chip to run stable at the stock frequency, the actual VCORE is set in bios, I did have it on manual, as you can see no real difference in temps:

i ran primer 95 and core 0 hit 60 but no more, that was a 100% load accross all 4 cores. I was looking forward to a bit of overclocking but it looks like i got a sh1t chip.

nevermind, its still plenty fast enough for me, just not liking everyone else having the same idles and loads as me with my chip but they're holding a big overclock aswell. gah!
