Default Ninja II Rev. B with AMD Athlon II X4 620

Hi,

I've just installed an AMD Athlon II X4 620 on an ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard. I was hoping to run it fanless (aside from the PSU), like my last system, in which I used a Ninja.

Getting the Ninja 2 was a struggle. It was extremely difficult to get the clips on to the AM3 retention bracket. I tried adjusting the clips to the middle position but this made the cooler way too loose, so I went back to the original position.

Upon running Prime95 I'm getting SpeedFan temperatures of 70°C+ for Temp1 and Core. The maximum temperature is supposed to be 71°C! This doesn't seem right to me. Obviously it's not a direct comparison but I've passively cooled a Q6600 with a Ninja below this.

I've removed the Ninja and reapplied thermal paste but no joy.

Has anyone else had any experience with the 620? Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can try?

Thanks,

Spinner

Hello

No problem with an Athlon II X4 605e on a MSI 770-G45.
With a Scythe S-FLEX @ ~400 rpm blowing out case fan, with idle temperature around 25°C

My Ninja B attached very strong on the AM3 retention bracket.
