Some pictures from my Mugen and CPU, just taken.

I just removed the Retention Kit and went back to the pushpin system for possible better pressure on the CPU. Idle temps are a bit lower, but this probably due to a cold boot. Still having 60c on my load temps. One thing changed, I can't move the Mugen this time, it's very tightend.
When I removed the Mugen again, I noticed the heatpipes being not warm at all. The surface and the surface where the Scythe logo is where the only 2 positions that where a bit warm. Also Oli, I checked if there where any parts of my DS4 being hit. None at all. I could use the copper spacer, but I am out of thermal paste, since I repositioned and refitted the Mugen so many times now. |

Hello Dominatu,
looking at the base-plate and at your heatspreader and the base-plate of your Mugen, I got the impression, that both the heatspreader and the base plate are arched concavely. This surely reduces the contact surface between Mugen and heatspreader. My suggestion would be, that you send your Mugen to your distributor for RMA and use the boxed-cooler as long as you get a new Mugen. If you were living in Germany, you could send your Mugen directly to me at Hamburg, but as far as i can see you are from the Netherlands which makes shipment uselessly expensive. Sorry, this is the only suggestion which makes sense to me. Stefan

Hi Dominatu
Did your replacement cooler do the trick for you, I've been suffering with high temps with the same cpu with the Mugen and a similar board (ep35 ds4 rev.2.0). There is adequate pressure and no interference with anything on the board yet I get 67 degrees under full load with OCCT. I've not really done anything about it as I was hoping to made the switch to water cooling by now but am going to have to wait a bit longer so would like to try and do something about the temps in the meantime. Thanks |

so dominatu, what was the solution?
I have the same motherboard and same processor. On stock speed stressed core 2 and 3 get to 60 degrees and core 0 and 1 get even to 69 degrees! Air flow inst the problem my Lian li b25b has great air flow,. I also checked if the thermal grease wasn't spread evenly, but that wasn't the case : (. I checked my core temps logs and it seem as my stock cooler performed as good as my my mugen. On full load it would reach max 69 degrees. With mugen core 0 1 reach 69 to : \. Only on idle my mugen performed slightly better. I check my video card temps 52 ad idle. I doubled checked if my mugen wasnt mounted properly. So what is the problem? Here pick of my pc guts http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/5099/snv80397il4.jpg |
