Question Mugen 2 fan pull mounting configuration

Hi All,
can the fan that comes standard with a mugen 2 be used to pull air out of the heatsink (rather than push it through)? do i mount it facing the opposite direction to set this up?

thanks in advance for the advice, this is my first time building a machine so its much appreciated

Yes. It works as you described it. Push or pull is decided by the way you mount it.

Hello jftw,

its up to you, both (push and pull) works without any problems. but if you want the real Mugen 2 performance then you should prefer the push direction.

Cheers
Chris

i have installed the fan in a pull position because i have an asus p6t deluxe v2 & the fan will not fit in push position because it covers two of my ram slots. thankfully though the pull works perfectly, pulling the hot air from the heatsink & then blowing it through the rear case fan out the back of the case.

after installing this i ran prime95 for two hours (all cores maxing @ 100%) & none went above 59 degrees celsius so i am stoked at the performance!

thanks a lot for the replies

I had the same problem with my ASUS p6t deluxe and ram. worked fine on my super talent kit but my patriot kit has too big heat spreaders to fit. currently mine is mounted under my heatsink but my max temps are in 70s so will have to try it pulling out of the case, cant believe I didnt think of it earlier.

the point of my previous post was to explain that i had mounted the cpu fan on the pull side of the heatsink because it didnt fit on the push side due to ram slot placement on my p6t deluxe v2 mobo. i dont know much about overclocking etc so this is all the info i can give dude.

i have a p6t deluxe v2, not a p5t v2. my processor core i7 920 & 1600mhz corsair ram.

no idea about that stuff uve asked. i had to use the X.M.S, or whatever its called, eXtreme something something profile, in the bios to get my ram to run at the correct 1600mhz speed. i just went with the defaults of the profile except i think i changed something to 1.6 (voltage maybe) because that is what corsair told me to do for the ram.

my temp it idles in the 30's & goes up to the 50s/maybe early 60s when underload 100% load. my fan cpu & case fans both set to silent (i think).

hope u get yours sorted

J
