make the cooler go faster

Hi,

I was wondering if its possible to speed up the coolers rpm? Right now its around the 1430, but 2000/2500 would be great.

Is that possible?

replace the fan with a higher rpm one? You'll of course, sacrifice quietness for speed...

Im used to the noise (45db) for several years now. However, it would be great to have a cooler which can be adjusted in rpm speed.

Can you recommand such a cooler?

Hello Jeweetog,

which fan are you using? If you are using one which is built for operation at 1430 rpm you can't speed it up more than 1430 rpm. If you are using any voltage regulated controls of your BIOS, de-activate them and the fan should run at higher speed.

I got the cooler that came with the scythe mugen 2.
I'm not sure if i use any voltage regulated controls. Where can I see this? I got the asus striker II extreme board.

Suppose i buy an extra cooler that can be adjusted, where can I get 2 extra 'cooler holders'?

Mugen 2 comes with a PWM fan - its maximum speed is 1200/1300 rpm. Taking in account the 10% tolerance of Scythe fans you get the 1430 you achieve. This fan cannot go any faster. You need to replace it.

But you'll probably lose the PWM feature of speed regulation which enables the fan to run slower when possible.
