Default Mugen 2, Gigabyte P55A-UD6 and Corsair Dominator

Hello,

I'm about to buy the cooler for my new building and I'm considering the Mugen 2: will it be compatible with the Gigabyte P55A-UD6 and the Dominators modules I have already ordered?

Thank you.

The cooler itself will fit but the fan will most likely collide at least with a DIMM installed in socket DDR3_3 - the one closest to the CPU socket.

You can install the fan on the other side in a sucking setup. Or - if your case is wide enough - you could mount the fan in a higher position on Mugen 2 - this could ensure the clearence of the Dominator's heatspreaders.

Thank you, Oli.

I think there will be no problems: the P55-UD6 has 6 memory slots and the first to be used are the farthest from the CPU

Hello rodius,

if you using only two ram modules, than you can fiting fan on ram side.
P55A-UD6 RAM - DIMM6/DIMM5/DIMM4 - DIMM3/DIMM2/DIMM1, so you will using DIMM1 + 4. I have the same motherboard at home =)

Regards,
OKI

One more question, please! Reading some reviews of the Mugen 2 it seems that you need to remove Intel's backplate from the mobo when installing on a socket 1336 CPU. Is this necessary also for revision 2 going to be installed on 1156?

Hello rodius,

hmm no need more. You can check on our product site Mugen 2 and Mugen 2 Rev.B, than you can see the difference between this two backplates.
