Default Mugen 2 on Gigabyte GA-EX58A-UD7?

Hi!

Does the Mugen 2 fit on Gigabyte GA-EX58A-UD7?

I'm thinking that it might conflict with the ram slots or the large chipsetcooler.

Maybe memory with small heatspreaders (not tall) are needed?

Thanks.

PS. I've been using Scythe Mugen 1 since 2006 in my S775 setup and I've been very happy with it

i hope tall heat spreaders can be used with the mugen 2 - it seems like most of the newer pc1600 kits are made with tall heat spreaders..

Looking at the pics I can only say that the fan will hang above the RAM slots which makes usage of high heatspreaders on the RAMs virtually impossible.

So you'll probably have to mount the fan on another side of Mugen 2.

Basically this is the case for nearly ANY Socket 1156 and Socket 1366 board and many 775 boards, too. Due to the width of Mugen 2 when mounted with the wider side parallel to ATX I/O shield you'll very often face this problem even on boards where Mugen 1 did fit with the fan ending before the beginning of the RAM slots. The growth in size from Mugen 1 to Mugen 2 causes this.

ok, thanks you for your answer.

i'll see if i can find a good pc1600 kit with small heatspreaders then. i hope the cooler will fit above them.

edit: btw, i don't need to use the first memory slot - does it also block memory slot no. 2 from the cpu?

ps. like your sam and max avatar

As I can only judge by pics I'd say the first two slots are covered by the fan. But it is really hard to say.

If I see this correctly there are water cooling connectors on the chipset cooler? You'll have to bend the hoses a bit to maneuver them out from underneath the last aluminium fin of Mugen 2. But it should work out. the rest of the heatpipe/chipset cooling monster should not interfere directly although it can make mounting a bit harder - nevertheless this shouldn't be an issue as Mugen 2 needs to be installed outside of the case anyway.

I may be a bit late to the game, but I just built my system on this board, and used Corsair XMS3 1600 ram. Fits fine. I have yet to mount the Chipset cooler, but I dry fit it and had no problems getting it into place.

Right now my temps are rather high, but I suspect that I didn't quite get everything right. I'm going to do some experiments and try again.
