Hi!
Currently I have "good old" Ninja SCNJ-1000 on my P5B Deluxe (cooling E6600). If I want to upgrade to Q9650 (3GHz, quad core), will I be able to use Mugen2 using SCNJ-1000's retention bracket that's already well glued onto P5B Deluxe? Reason for asking is that I'm not sure that SCNJ-1000 will be able to properly cool a quad core like Q9650, or am I wrong...? |

Hi,
you can use the old Ninja if you have the brackets. It should be work with a Quad Core Intel CPU, but after so many years it´s maybe time to change. Mugen 2 have really nice performance, but i think you really happy with Ninja than look for Ninja 2 Rev.B . Both work very well and have low noise, so it´s you personality decision.

So...just to confirm: I can mount Mugen 2 onto my board using original Ninja's retention & brackets? |

No. Mugen 2 has its own set of special backplates depending on the Socket you mount the cooler on.
Re-using the old backplate won't work. You have to remove it carefully and then use the clips and backplate from the Mugen 2 package which are made for 478. Also the plastic retention module has to be removed that is standard on the Socket 478 boards. Check the mounting details in the Mugen 2 manual PDF: ftp://ftp.scythe-eu.com/Manuals/CPU%...U%20Cooler.pdf
