From the pictures it looks like they should indeed be compatible. However, you should pay special attention to how tight it will be, because if I've understood correctly the Scythe screws are meant to be tightened to a fixed degree, and with the different backplate the travel length for the screw might be different.. if you see what I mean.

I guess the question is if the fit will be tight enough when screwed all the way in. Anyway, I wish you success.
yes, I know what you mean.
If it's not tight enough, I could use a shim
to compensate.
This should not be a big problem...

But thanks for your advice!
Now that you mentioned it, I'll look for proper shims
to be sure to have some in storage, if needed.

The backplate collides with a screw, that holds a mainboard-cooler in place.

On the other side of the CPU some soldered points seem to be too high for the backplate. (they are higher that the thickness of the rubber coating on the backplate)

I attached some photos of the problem...
Is there a possiblity to get some different backplate, even from third distributors?

If there is no solution, I'll send back the cooler tomorrow...
The cooler would fit on the board, if it wasn't for this severe problem...

hi i found a solution to youre problem, i have the exact same setup, the point of conflict between the backplate and the motherboard nb screw is very small so i took a hand pile and flattened that corner of the backplate to the point that there no more contact between the 2 , it only took me 35 minutes to get the things done, cheers hope it helps, Regarding the iron soldering from the back of the mobo i hope 2 they dont get damaged, cause i tightened the screws to the max

Hi,

I have gone from a Noctua NH-U12P to Mugen II two months ago, I am upgrading to socket LGA1156 so what about your coming compatible kit LGA 1156? Noctua is offering it for free and I won't buy a Rev B just for that! any news?

Thanks.

I was just about to get the same motherboard and Mugen 2.

Is the only solution still to flatten/cut the backplate?

Are there any similar coolers with a backplate that would fit without modification?
Are all Scythe backplates the same as the Mugen 2 one?
