Hi, Yes indeed the Mugen 2 fits on the dx58so board and is quite impressive. Where do you place the fan??
There is no room between the Mobo small heatsink fan. There is no room between the graphics card and Mugen 2 unless you try to suck the guts out of the card. Of course I would like to see the fan blowing though the Mugen 2 directly to rear exhaust fan. Presently I have fan blowing from top which is not the best. This is all installed in a Coolermaster haf 932, which has big fans everywhere. Anyone have any thoughts pls. cheers Are there such things as slim line quiet fans that might help? ie from scythe product list, found "Slip Stream 120mm Slim Case Fan" which is only 12mm (0.47 inches) thick. Tends to be a bit noisy once you go above the 800rpm version. Will the fan clips be too large for this fan?? Last edited by texasboy; 08-30-2009 at 02:18 PM. |

Hi,
do you already try to mount the fan behind the Mugen 2. So the fan pulls the air through the cooler`? Otherwise what i see from the board there should be enough space to also mount the fan pushing air through the cooler.

Many tks sumo,There is only 23mm space between Mugen 2 and mobo chip cooler and fan will not fit.
However, I had a good look around at the fans in the case and did not realise that the big fan on top was actually an exhaust fan. So I reversed the scythe 120mm fan to pull air out of the top of heatsink to the big exhaust fan, I also attached a spare 80mm fan to the front of the cooler blowing air through to the 140mm exhaust fan at back of case. PC has been on for about 1 hour and temperatures are good. Mobo = 29deg CPU = 34 deg Core 1 =37 Core 2 =37 Core 3 =39 Core 4 = 39 PC is slightly overclocked to 3.18 MZh for these readings. Will still try to find a 120mm slim fan as the little 80mm fan has only 2 wires and runs 100 percent at all times. TKS cheers Last edited by texasboy; 09-02-2009 at 08:52 PM. |

sumo, At the risk of double posting. Increased CPU to 3.35MHz. It seems that Mugen 2 has bedded in with the silver paste and after double checking with Everest and "real temp" there is little or no difference in temperatures 1-2 degs at most. Mugen 2 is doing a great job. Even running prime 95 for 2 hours shows no errors.
Still running that little 80mm extra fan on cooler until I get the slim line 120 mm. Looking good. cheers Last edited by texasboy; 09-02-2009 at 08:51 PM. |
