Default Scythe Mugen 2 in combination with P35-DS4, Corsair Dominators and NOX Coolbay HX

Dear staff of Scythe,

I'm planning to buy a Scythe Mugen 2. Since the launch I'm pleased with the results of it and I never tried a Scythe-product before, so it makes me quite curious. However, I'm having some troubles with finding out if the cooler is going to fit well on my current setup.

I will first describe my situation. I have a GA-P35-DS4 motherboard from Gigabyte and we are speaking about revision 2.0 of it. This revision has an other heatsink compared to the Rev 1.0 for example. The memory slots in the motherboard are filled up with two Corsair Dominators (larger heatsink than most RAM-modules). The system is build into the Coolbay HX from NOX. A Xigmatek Thor's Hammer is currently being used as CPU-cooler.

The Thor's Hammer is causing problems right now. Due to the cooler the left side panel of the case won't close anymore. The cooler is 160 mm high according to the specifications of the original website. That's why I'm looking for an alternative high-end CPU-cooler which keeps my Q6600 cold enough.

Today I saw a post on the internet where someone is using a Scythe Mugen in combination with the Coolbay HX (20,5 cm width - ≈ 3 cm from the 200 mm fan = 17,5 cm). The Scythe Mugen fits with the 159 mm height (according to the post). A bit strange then, that the Hammer won't fit with the 160 mm height if you ask me.

Could one of you (or all) provide me with more information about the compatability of the Scythe Mugen 2 in my situation? I did some research myself and I didn't found the Scythe Mugen 2 in your official compatibility list. However, my motherboard is in the official compatibility list of the Scythe Mugen. I would be pleased to use this cooler in the future.

If you think the information above isn't enough, feel free to ask for more information.

Hi,

a lot of informations. now you will get the answers.

The Mugen 2 is not that much bigger then the Mugen 1, only few mm, so it should also fit on your motherboard, but what i think its possible that the first yellow memory slot is blocked by Mugen 2. Your chassis is tight but normally it should fit unless you can uninstall the side panel fan, hehe.

Cheers Chris
