Default Scythe Mine & Universal Retention kit for 775 board?

I have the Scythe Mine Rev B cooler on my Asus P5E 775 board however I am having problems with the push pins and cannot get one corner to click in place.

I was wondering if I could use the backing plate that comes with the Universal Retention Kit to mount the Mine with screws.

I guess I would have to remove the plastic pins from the existing Mine mounting brackets and replace with screws and maybe some spacers.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Figured out an even better solution. Get yourself an EK motherboard back plate, a D-TEK CPU waterblock mounting kit and some washers or spacers, take out the push pins from the existing brackets & the rest is history. 3'C Degrees cooler than the standard mounting kit.

Hi,

the universal retention kit would work. The Kit you made is similar to the Thermalright Bolt Thru Kit, works fine as well indeed. For our Kit you would need to use the socket 478 clips.

Cheers
