Teum...it may be a similar issue to the Rampage III motherboard. Is it due to the Mugen using a rectangular backplate? If so, if the Noctua backplate i mention above is compatable with your cpu/mobo type, that may work...

Research it ...

Yes, it is due to the Mugen using a rectangular backplate.

In fact I had no time to waste so I sent back the Mugen and ordered a Noctua which is explicitly compatible with my mainboard (and costs about the price of the mugen + the price of the mounting kit).

But I thought it would be intersting for others to know that the Mugen 2 rev. B doesn't fit the P5W DH Deluxe (and I needed to be sure).

Thanks for helping.

Default ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2

fisrt thing first: hello, nice to be here

fits nicely (in cooler master sileo 500 case).
the ram is blocked by the fan only, if you install it on this side. No prob, since you can easiely get the fan on and off. Got some probs with gettting the cpu and atx plug in, but worked eventually. the upper left mainboard screw, was difficult to get in, too. Had to use a magnetic screwdriver (got big fingers).

cpu and case temps (the distance to the rear case wall is very small... the hot air gets blown out pretty well.) went 10K down... great stuff this cooler!

Peace,

Default GMC J-1 fit or not?

I am planning to buy this cooler and need a last minute check on the case.

:: GM Corporation Ltd :: PC Case & PowerSupply GMC-J1

I am a little skeptical because

Mugen height is 158 mm.
Case is 180mm.

This looks like a very tight fit - if it fits at all. I read that someone put a Kama Angle into a case with 185mm width - and the angle is 2mm higher than Mugen 2.

EDIT: I now found a posting of someone with 18 cm width and he said that Mugen 2 didn't fit at all. He guessed that about 1 cm more width would be necessary in his case to close the side panel.

Hey guys, got another one for you... thanks for offering this thread, very convenient!

I want to try and put 6 dimms of G.Skill Tridents on a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 Mobo in a SILVERSTONE Fortress Series FT02B Case.

Will the Mugen 2 rev. b fit over the dimms? I assume I'd have to move the fan up, just dunno if they'd be case space.

Unfortunately it is difficult enough to comment on boards - so i cannot comment on the variety of cases too. But you can be quite sure on virtually all boards with 6 RAM slots that the fan will interfere with some of the modules becaus the ATX layout doesn't offer enough distance between six RAMs and the CPU socket.

The heatspreaders on the Tridents look a bit higher than the ones on the Ripjaws. So you'd have to mount the fan even higher. You will have to test or change the side on which you install the fan.
