You can mount the fan on any side of Mugen 1/2. Cooling is best when mounted on the wider side. I personally doubt that the cooling effect (sucking) on the backside of your graphics card is noticeable.

Hello!
Does the Mugen 2 fit on a ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe Mainboard?

Hi there,
Does anybody know, if the Mugen 2 fits to Gigabyte X48-DS5 Rev. 1.0 with four RAM-DIMM's used?
Search did not find it.

Thanks a lot.

Über die Suche habe ich nichts gefunden

Well, just to let people know, Mugen 2 is indeed compatible with the Gigabyte GA-M55S-S3 v2 motherboard, it's a bit crowded on the mobo with the mugen 2 installed and it covers some of the RAM slots so only 2 out of 4 slots are usable and the fan only have enough space to be put on 1 of the 4 sides of the heatsink, at least on my rig which is set inside the NZXT Apollo case but it fits and working well (eventually).

Hey everyone,

just ordered a MSI 870A-G54 Board and a Mugen 2 rev B.
It has not yet arrived but I wanted to know a little thing before I install everything. From the looks of the board (http://www.hoh.de/Default.aspx?TY=2&ST=1&IT=119353&CT=0)
it seems, that there is more space on the side of the I/O-panel to mount the fan. On this side there will also be my big case fan (right "above" the I/O-panel. Is it possible to mount the fan on this side and switch it around so that it "sucks" air through the Mugen? I know it sounds weird, but that way it wouldn't block any RAMs and the hot air from the CPU will go through the fan of the Mugen and then through my case fan and then outside.

Is an installation like that even possible? Or must the fan blow the air through the Mugen?

Thanks for the answer in advance!

Greets,

Both is possible. You can mount the fan on all 4 sides of Mugen 2 but this will (sometimes noticeably) change the cooler's performance. Blowing is the preferred method. Sucking works and is sometimes the only solution if your lacking space but in most cases your temps would be lower if mounted blowing.

Just my guess: No problem.

No high RAM in slot closest to socket & also keep a look how close your PSU is to the board. Socket is placed very close to board's edge. So Mugen will most likely stick out above the edge when mounted with wider side parallel to ATX i/o shield.
