Hi Lord Sam,

we don´t know if mounting work 100% correct and don´t touch ram slots. I think it should be possible and in "emergency", you can mount the fan on the other side .

Some people ask as - How can you not know as a manufacturer? Quite simply we have the Motherboard´s not available locally and any manufacturer play around with the layout.

@Lord Sam
Hi
About Your question and Kingston Hyper X.
I have them on Asus Rampage Gene with the Big Shurikan as the picture shows. It look odd because of the
camera to close when taking it but the Ram is down and connected. The conn in the board is
of standard and therefor the height also among all boards I beleive.
The height (top of mem) reading above board is 35mm when reading and adding 5mm not used at the end of the messuring tool.

The height below Mugen is 40mm. 5mm higher than my Big Shurikan that have 35mm and the CPU build
on the board is about 7-8mm.
My build and Y can see the CPU gives 7-8mm.

The fan can be adjusted in a little higher possition as the clips for it slides in a grove of the heatsink.
I hope you understand my points and with this can make a good decission. To my understanding there
will not be a problem with the KingstonX Rams.

Hello,

I will be soon buying my new Megun2 but still worrying about if it will be block any of the memory slots with the fan installed on my MA790FXT-UD5P , I will be installing two fans for pull and push configurations.

Am having the OCZ BE DDR3 memory with a heatsink similar to Platinum or Gold Series from OCZ but painted Nickel black.

Regards,,,

Default Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5 & Antec Sonata Designer 500 work

The Mugen 2 is compatible with the "Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5" motherboard and "Antec Sonata Designer 500" case (this is a fairly small case). Since I use the low power "AMD Phenom II X4 905e Deneb 2.5GHz AM3 65W Quad-Core Processor" I don't even use a fan. This heatsink alone is enough to keep my CPU cool even after 24 hours of prime95 (46C). However, if you did use the included fan it would cover the first two blue RAM banks. I.e. the RAM would work fine, the fan would just be hanging over the RAM. Therefore if you ever had to swap your RAM out you'd need to take the fan off first. If you had extra tall RAM you might have to bump the fan up just a bit, but it should still work fine.

Just FYI the RAM I use is CT2KIT25672BA1339 - 4GB kit (2GBx2), 240-pin DIMM , DDR3 PC3-10600 from Crucial.com.
This is ECC RAM.

I've attached 3 pics of my installed Mugen 2.

Hi! I tried to install the Mugen 2 Rev B on a MSI 785G E-53. Seems to be some kind of new problem here, RAM would fit nicely but there are some transistors below the original retention kit (on cpu side). The original keeps some space, the two scythe metal pieces would just crunch these transistors/resitors/capacitors (don't remember exactly, was a bunch of components). Is there any alternative retention kit available?

dhampir, would you be so kind to pick a picture of your board from the WWW showing the CPU socket and mark the structures where you experienced or expected a collision with the mounting clips?

AFAIK the backplate mounting mechanism is the only mounting method available for Mugen 2.

Unfortunately most of the recent mainboards have those very small structures positioned around the CPU socket. Normally the clips should fit w/o hitting them. I looked at a pic of your mobo and it didn't look too "crowded" - a first impression. But perhaps just bad luck in this combination.

sorry too late, box cooler found his way on the board. i could take a picture of the mainboard and mark the position if anyone is interested. other question: i still have an old scythe unendlich (original name censored ^^ ), that one came without any backplate. right now its on an old 939 board (still in use), the original kit of 939 and am3 seem to be equal for me. is it possible to take that one? or is it too much weight for the am3? greetings vincent

Hi,
does the mugen 2 fit on the GIGABYTE P55A-UD3/P55-UD3? I want to use G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ ram. And if so, I would like to know if it is possible to use the PCIe 1x Slot next to the cpu socket right above the PEG-Slot. I want to install the fan on the cooler as shown on the mugen page Mugen 2 Rev. B: Scythe EU GmbH and blowing towards to the rear fans of my case (not towards the psu).

Thanks in advance
Cunhell

Am using the OCZ BE 1600Mhz Memory which doesn't have large heatsink and looks like yours .Iam not planning to swap them if they work fine . Just would like to know if they are installed on the blue channel with fan above them. Are they any conflict between them and the fan or just above it ?

Also , Is it that heavy ... Looks like 870g very heavy and could damage the MoB , any comment ?

Regards,,,
