Default Striker Extreme

The Asus Striker Extreme is listed as compatible, but when I try to mount the Mugen with the fan attached it will not fit due to the heat pipes on the motherboard. Can it be safely used without the fan (I've got an Antec P182 case with a top mounted fan and a rear mounted fan), and won't the BIOS/POST fall over the fact that no CPU-fan is connected to the motherboard?

Mugen is not really designed for a passive/fanless usage. Perhaps Shinigami can help you out.

Regarding the very tight fins of Mugen compared to Ninja even in a case with quite good airflow passively using Mugen could fail. So you should use Mugen with a fan in any way.

As far as I can see on the pictures at Asus.com the fan should clear the appropriate heatpipe of the motherboard when attached correctly with the supplied fan clips. Could you post a picture with fan installed (or nearly installed)?

Bye Oliver

Here's a picture of the Mugen with the fan attached. It won't clear the heatpipe East of the socket when installing.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to know if a Mugen is compatible to a M3a32 MVP deluxe?
Does anyone have a Mugen + M3A32 MVP Deluxe, or is it possible to use the Mugen on that motherboard anyways? I hope you can help me...

thx

Hi there!

colum: Thanks for your trust in Scythe items and posting the images! Update is made.

Repeat64: It should fit, but you maybe need to mount the Mugen turned by 90°. In worst case, you can mount the fan a bit higher than it's meant to be, if you have the space. I would not use the Mugen in fanless mode, it's not really designed for completely-fanless use. Maybe you should really try to turn Mugen and mount it.
PS: Thanks Oliver

psuw13: Thanks for reporting, but it would be cool if you can also post an image for users that plan to use that Mobo =)

Monkey king: The ASUS M3A32 MVP Deluxe is like "semi-compatible". If you have RAM like Corsair Dominator or those with heatpipes on them, then you will not be able to use the first RAM-Slot. If you have "normal" ram, it should be "OK".

My camera is broken but i can confirm it fits on Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 in Antec P182, although its tight for mounting the top left pin and ASUS P5KPL-VM in Antec P182

Hi there,

Juju: Gigabyte X38 DS5 should be Ok with Mugen. The Cooling is on a better side recently, not too big. I'd rate it with 95% compatibility chance.

cashman5: Might be different if you turn the Mugen CPU Cooler in a different direction. You can also mount the fan higher. It is not a big deal and I would not really rate it as "semi-compatible" There are few ways to avoid the contact between the RAM and Mugen.

PeterStoba: GA-P35-DS3 should be fine, I agree. ASUS P5KPL-VM seems to have a simple design, should be fine as well. I will set both as compatible based on your supplied confirmation. Thanks!

Cheers,
Shinigami
