Retention Kit and Socket 478 Mobo

I currently have an Abit IC7 Max3 mobo, but without the original P4 heatsink retention system.
While i've read about the Scythe retention kit being used on the current AMD and Intel systems, can it actually be used on an older 478 board?

I like the idea of the brace behind the cpu and metal retention clips rather than the original plastic type.

using the Retention Kit on "normal" 478 boards is possible without any problems.
