Default Zipang + Asus m2npv-mx?

Would that work?
If not, what cooler could you suggest me for an passive/semipassive cooling? I need fins at right angle to the mobo to get what I can from case's side fan (if cpu will ever be hot enough to turn it on)

Hi,

amorphis234: Asus P5N-D has one of the biggest heatsinks I saw so far (area). Mugen should be still fine with it, based on what I could see.

Kamy: I mentioned it in a different thread, but here comes the answer again anyway.
ASUS P5E3 Deluxe is basically compatible. The Ninja CU won't hit the surrounding coolers but mounting the Ninja CU might be a pain. Don't complain if you cut yourself by the surrounding coolers =P

If you are a beginner, I guess this is a "no-go" but if you are quiet experienced and have time to mount it, it will be no problem. Just hook op one side, and then mount the other.

Molot: Zipang is not a fanless cooler to start with. You need either Ninja PLUS or Orochi for that purpose. Fanless is not that easy, you need to think about a couple things. We might need a guide there =)

I have "Energy Efficient" version of Athlon64x2. At 1GHz most of the time. Undervolted. Even box cooling's fan isn't always on. I think I can safely assume Zipang's fan will be off most of the time, and quiet the rest. It'll be way better than box even if I'm wrong, so not much loss. Plus, I don't have money for much more expensive heatsink.

The question is - will it fit on my mobo/case? (case is midi tower, ~30mm of width is taken by the side 250mm fan).

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6 mobo and 4 sticks of OCZ Platinum rev 2 RAM, which have short heatsinks that aren't taller than the RAM itself. Will the Ninja Mini and 80mm fan fit in this setup? And should I switch to a 120mm fan instead? I really want to use an S-Flex because of the quieter FDB, but there's no 80mm model.

Can say nothing about the board but such heatsinks (compared to Kama Wings) are no problem. Those tall ones or the ones with a heatpipe can cause problems. You're safe concerning the RAM I'd say.

Bye Oliver

First of all this MB looks much safer than the M2N32 Sli you also asked for. Nevertheless the RAM sockets are very near to the CPU socket. The fan can be installed above the RAM sockets with Ninja - I had this setup running for months (not this board but fan above RAM sockets). But please note that you cannot use RAM with heatpipes or cooling elements ("overclocking RAM"). Standard RAM modules should be safe.

I cannot guarantee that'll fit but it looks good with the above restrictions.

Bye Oli

Hello again!

Molot: Well Asus m2npv-mx should be ok with Zipang. The fan controller might not be able to be controlled by the mobo. You probably want to put the fan permanently on 5V. I think rest should be fine then.

voor: The GA-EX38-DQ6 should be compatible. If you have the space, then use the normal Ninja PLUS Rev. B. Also for the FDB bearing, you can get a 80mm fan from the Kama Flex Series. As Oli said, the RAM should be fine, unless you have the OCZ Reaper. they are definitely too tall. Yet if the Ninja is not lapping over the memry slots, there won#t be any problems for both Ninja mini and Ninja Plus.

Superczynski: It is difficult to say, because the heatpipe cooler is simply very close to the socket. Ninja Copper should have a tight fit, but since you can turn it, I think that one will fit with higher chances.
