hi i just bought and installed my katana 2 cpu cooler.
ive nicely spread out the thermal paste and firmy installed the cooler using the pushpins(their all placed like they should). my original temperatues using the stock intel cooler were 28° idle now using the katana 2 i was think maybe il get 20° idle now but what i got is 36° idle. my cpu is a e6600 running at 2.5ghz with stock voltages etc. so i was thinking of buying a slipstream 1900 (wich should work) cos i rly think my cooler is lacking in some way. now i have my case open and the fan is hardly blowing at all. i have no idea whats going on. hoping you can help me. greetz trolle (sry for the errors im doing my best as this is not my native language) |

Hello Trolle,
welcome to our support-forum! First of all - don't kill me for that question: Did you remove the small plastic film from the cooler's baseplate? Some users are really forgetting to do so. Kind regards, Stefan - Scythe EU Hamburg

Hello,
can you provide some load temperatures with both coolers? Whats about fan speed or any fan controlling bios settings? Can you check this for us? Kind Regards Chris

sure
the test i did with occt with my cpu (e6600) @ 2.5ghz and 1.288v on the core stock cooler:idle 28° occt after 30min of testing 53° max katana 2 idle: 40° occt after 30min 65° these temps both with the stock cooler and the katana were both done with the same oc and vcore been playing word of warcraft and my temperature is 56-57° wich used to be 45° with the stock cooler i also tried using asus Qfan but that didnt make a difference as the fan is alrdy on his max rpm. but would a slipstream 1900 make any difference in cooling? cos i rly have no clue whats wrong with it atm Last edited by Trolle; 04-21-2009 at 01:43 PM. |

Hello Trolle,
actually this really sounds as if you have problems regarding the cpu cooler's surface. We would like to check the cooler here in our lab, so could you please send it to us for RMA? Scythe EU GmbH RMA Dept. Willinghusener Weg 5c 22113 Oststeinbek Germany Please include a copy of the invoice and the return-address! Cheers, Stefan - Scythe EU Hamburg
